Shadow Wood Country Club’s course completion culminates 4-year renovation

The November opening of Shadow Wood Country Club’s newly redesigned Preserve Course marks the culmination of the club’s extensive four-year, threecourse renovation plan that began in 2017 under the direction of renowned golf course architect Rees Jones.

“Our comprehensive redesign of all three courses at Shadow Wood Country Club has strategically enhanced the challenge and enjoyment for every caliber of player,” said Mr. Jones.

Mr. Jones and senior designer Bryce Swanson developed the course renovation plans that included completely rebuilding greens; revising and dramatically recontouring surfaces for interesting and challenging hole locations; reimagining greenside bunkers to improve playability and strategy; creating chipping areas adjacent to most greens for a variety of shot options; relocating fairway bunkers built to allow for manageable recovery shots; and rebuilding rock walls adjacent to ponds and adding view-enhancing bulkheads to several holes.

The golf course architecture team of Rees Jones Inc. worked with Shadow Wood General Manager Brian Bartolec in creating a timeless, tailored solution to ensure that the three courses are playable for all Club members. In addition to thanking Bartolec and his committees for a productive and rewarding experience, Jones said, “The club recognized the importance of reimagining all three courses, and the members have and will enjoy playing the redesigned courses on a daily basis for years to come.”

The design team paid meticulous attention to maintaining the undisturbed natural harmony of the courses’ scenic nature preserves, expansive lakes, and native Florida vegetation – a shared goal of all involved in the renovation plan.

Located in Estero near the intersection of U.S. 41 and Coconut Road, Shadow Wood Country Club is currently offering a limited number of memberships. For additional information, call 239-992-6000 or visit www.shadowwoodcc.com. ¦
